Advanced Skills for Today's Financial Professional Training Seminar
Today's Financial Professionals are the financial gatekeepers of the organization's strategic management team. Whether the organization is involved in manufacturing or providing a service, whether it is for profit or not-for-profit, the job of the Financial Professional is essentially focused on the fiscal stability of the organization; ensuring funds sufficient to achieve its strategic objectives.
This job is not easy. It often involves balancing multiple and often conflicting priorities. In addition, it requires significant knowledge in various disciplines including, Financial Management, Cost Accounting, Banking & Lending, I/T, H/R Issues, Sales & Marketing, Production and Service Line Management, and Strategic and Tactical Planning. Meanwhile, effective communication with internal and external forces adds even more complexity to the task. In order to be successful, you must excel in both your strategic and tactical roles. This three-day program will provide you with a new perspective with which to approach your job. You will be refocused on many of the key aspects of fiscal management, and discuss "Best Practices" in this ever evolving position. In addition, you will gain the communication and people management skills you need to effectively work with your tactical and strategic management teams, Boards of Directors, regulatory agencies, employees and the financial community.

This section will not only show you how to craft an engaging Corporate Vision, but also provide you with specific tools to effectively gauge that the organization's fiscal resources are in line with its strategic aspirations.
Day Two
Financial Reporting: Reflections of the Past - Focus on the Future The financial reports that the finance function provides are the key ingredient for operational and fiscal decisions. They represent has occurred, and are the starting point for what may occur in the future. This critical section will make you look at financial reporting from a new and different perspective; that of the customer of the finance group. You will see your products as a consumer rather than a producer. As financial professionals, we need to understand the concerns and information requirements of our internal and external customers. Financial Analysis: Looking Beyond The Numbers Not just the ratios, but what do they mean. What is the message the numbers are conveying to you as a financial professional. You will see the internal financial analysis process in a totally new light. You'll look at reporting as an expensive product, and how to ensure it meets the customers' needs. By truly understanding how our customers use our products, we can continually enhance our service level. This section goes beyond the typical ratio and variance analysis, taking the financial numbers back to the strategic and tactical objectives developed during the planning process. You will learn how to effectively measure real progress, determining who and what is generating real returns, and how to develop an "Early Warning System" to detect those operations that are going to miss the mark.

Using Excel??, you will learn how to build financial models to help you determine which capital projects can add economic value to the organization, and funding alternatives.
Evaluating the Leasing and Strategic Outsourcing Options Leasing and Outsourcing are excellent alternatives to the use of corporate resources and assets. However, leasing is not for everyone, and outsourcing can be more expensive than retaining the process in-house. In this section, you will learn how to evaluate the leasing and outsourcing alternatives, and understand the bottom line implications of each. Also, you will explore the benefits and drawbacks of operating and capital leases and the effects of leasing as they relate to FAS 13, 91, and 98.
