Statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that 4% of American couples will divorce each year. Many of these individuals need assistance understanding the consequences of property division, future pension values, tax issues of alimony vs. child support, and other complicated areas with which a divorcing individual may need assistance.
The Certified Financial Divorce Practitioner (CFDP) program provides designees the expertise to assist either spouse of a divorcing couple to understand their options better and the decisions surrounding their financial scenarios.

The CFDP designation is comprised of a self-study program that includes textbooks and five months of free usage for the "Family Law Software" program. This software will assist you in determining financial results when calculating "what if" scenarios such as: who keeps the house, who receives the 401(k), who assumes the visa card balance, etc.
To earn the designation, individuals must successfully complete one case study (submitted via email for grading) plus one test (taken online in the comfort of your home or office)!
Candidates who complete the program receive a one-year membership in the Academy of Certified Financial Divorce Practitioners. Membership includes ongoing support, affinity program discounts from major corporations, up to fifteen hours of continuing education, networking opportunities, and listing on the web site practitioner search files.
Continuing Education Credits
This course qualifies for 45 hours of CFP and 15 hours of Illinois Insurance licensing continuing education credits.
