Resolving Legal and Financial Issues in Elder Care Training Seminar
Protect Your Clients' Assets and Provide the Services They Need
Thanks to advances in medicine, people are living longer - so it is crucial that their assets are preserved and that they will be able to obtain long-term care if necessary. The cost of this care could easily consume a client's assets if there is not a carefully drafted estate plan in place.
This seminar will give you the skills required to create an estate plan that meets your clients' needs. Confidently create the right estate plan, including the use of planning vehicles to shield assets. Focus on planning for long-term care and health care costs and knowledgeably help clients through the process of qualifying for Medicaid. Properly and tactfully handle ethical considerations with your clients during what can be a difficult time for them.
Make sure your elderly clients are cared for!
- Ensure that the client's wishes will be carried out - through appropriate asset titling, the will, a durable power of attorney and advanced directives.
- Preserve the client's assets through the use of irrevocable trusts, annuities, life insurance, retirement accounts and gifting methods.
- Avoid ethical problems such as conflict of interest between the spouses' interests.
- Differentiate between Medicare and Medicaid, and understand how your client can qualify for Medicaid.
- Advise clients on how to legally dispose of excess assets and how this "spend down" requirement affects Medicaid eligibility.
- See sample forms and letters you can use in drafting an estate plan.
