Multicultural Communication Training Training Seminar
General Overview
This one-day multicultural communication training workshops. The training provides an engaging and innovative experience to avoid some the common challenges experienced in multicultural training. Common challenges include people feeling that the multicultural training is a waste of time and energy because they did not learn anything about themselves or their team. After receiving a training experience, participants also leave overestimating their cultural competency due to having an unreliable measure of cultural competence. Although the training experience is considered nice, people lack a plan of action for next steps. Another challenge includes some having the overwhelming sense of uncertainty or guilt about their role in creating meaningful change. As a result, they leave feeling more disinterested and avoidant in developing cultural sensitivity.
There a variety of strategies used to overcome the aforementioned challenges. Firstly, a reliable, research-based measure is used. The measure accurately identifies a participant's strengths and learning goals regardless of level of multicultural competence, which leads to information about practical ways to develop greater cultural competence depending on stage of development. Specific interventions and engaging activities are implemented to offer tools to create the kind of change valued. People discover ways to reduce stress, feel more competent and confident, and take educated risks in developing cultural bridges, when appropriate. Participants are allowed to avoid generalized interventions and focus on team or individual needs along a range of skills, knowledge, and abilities.
