PMP Quick Facts

respected global credential in the project management profession.
- In total, there are over 625,000 PMPs worldwide carrying this
certification. They are spread over an astonishing 160 countries and are
growing every day.
- Taking that next step in your development as a PMP requires a
commitment of time and lots of energy. Relying on your experience won’t
be alone, so you’ll need to learn what the PMP requirements are.
- To obtain PMP certification, you must satisfy the education and
experience requirements, adhere to a Professional Code of Conduct, and
pass the PMP Certification Examination.
- You will need a bachelor’s degree and 4,500 hours of PM experience
in the five process groups or a secondary diploma and 7,500 hours of PM
experience in the five process groups.
- Along with meeting those requirements, you will need 35 contact
hours of classroom instruction. This must relate to the project
management objectives. Once you fulfill those requirements, you will
need support documentation as part of your registration.
- You will also need to pass the PMP exam that consists of 200
multiple choice questions that must be completed in 4 hours. (The exam
is not part of this course and must be taken separately)
- Once a PMP, to keep your credential, you will need to obtain 60
Professional Development Units (PDU)® over a 3 year period to maintain
