The How To Guide To Reasonable Accommodations Under The ADA Training Seminar

Most employers are well aware that the Americans with Disabilities Act requires them to make "reasonable accommodation" for the known physical or mental limitations of disabled employees or of otherwise qualified applicants.

Failure to comply with all of the reasonable accommodation requirements of the ADA can result in draconian penalties with significant financial consequences.

For example, both the EEOC and an individual can initiate a legal action that can result in back pay, reinstatement with full pay, injunctive relief, punitive damages, compensatory damages, and attorney's fees. Awards have been known to run into the many millions of dollars.

By attending this webcast, you will learn how to ensure compliance with the ADA reasonable accommodation rules so your organization can benefit from employing people with disabilities. Specifically, you will learn:
  • What is considered a "reasonable" accommodation?
  • What is considered a request for a reasonable accommodation?
  • What kinds of questions can (and can't) an employer ask of an employee to determine the nature of the disability
  • Who determines that a reasonable accommodation is necessary and what specific accommodation is required?
  • Can medical information be requested? Required?
  • When, how, and how long an accommodation is necessary?
  • Does a collective bargaining agreement supersede the ADA when it comes to job reassignment?
We'll also cover what to do once it is determined that a reasonable accommodation is required. For instance, can an employer legally:
  • Hold a disabled employee's job open?
  • Allow a disabled employee to work at home?
  • Reassign a disabled employee to a vacant position?
  • Create a new position for a disabled employee?
  • Provide a "light duty" alternative to a disabled employee?
  • Discipline or terminate a disabled employee?
  • Change a disabled employee's supervisor?
  • Monitor a disabled employee's taking of medication?
  • Assign additional administrative assistance personnel to a disabled employee?
  • Make changes to existing facilities?
And finally, how does HIPAA privacy enter into all this?

If you have disabled employees or job applicants, make plans to attend this informative webcast to learn what you must do to create an effective and compliant reasonable accommodation program and to help your employees contribute up to their full potential!

And don't forget...you'll also get a chance to ask our experts your questions during the presentation!
