COBRA's Notice Requirements: How the DOL's May 2004 Final Regulations Change the Rules Training Seminar

Know the law! On Thursday, June 17, 2004, we presented (and recorded) a 90-minute tele-web seminar (entitled "COBRA Notice Requirements: How the DOL's May 2004 Final Regulations Change the Rules") on the final COBRA notice regulations that were published May 26, 2004. Let our seasoned COBRA authors walk you through the final regulations, with expert commentary along the way. Get ready! The regulations will require group health plans to revise their COBRA policies, procedures and forms. But the regulations don't stop there. They create several new notice obligations for plans! Our goal is to help employers and plan administrators know the law. We'll explain the details of the final regulations and present a roadmap of steps that must be taken in the months ahead to bring a plan?s COBRA policies, procedures and forms into compliance.

Here's what we covered:
* the initial COBRA notice, including deadlines for delivery, use of the SPD, the model notice, etc.;
* the notice requirement for employers (for termination of employment, reduction in hours, etc.);
* the notice requirement for employees and qualified beneficiaries (for divorce, ceasing to be a dependent, etc.), including what constitutes adequate notice;
* COBRA's election notice, including deadlines for delivery, content, the model notice, etc.; and
* new notices that plan administrators must furnish and new procedures.

Handouts: A 76-page handout of the seminar slides, polling results and other information is provided by download.

For one registration fee ($195), you and your co-workers can gather in one office or conference room to attend the seminar. (A separate registration fee is required for each additional Web connection.)

System Requirements: Attendees must have Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater or Netscape Navigator 4.5 to 4.77.
Also, a high-speed Internet connection (DSL or higher) and Windows Media Player 7.1 are required to view this seminar.

How Things Work: After we receive your registration form and payment, we will send you an e-mail confirmation with instructions for seminar access. You may choose to access the seminar on any one day through September 12, 2004.
