Course Description The Department of Labor issued final regulations on the COBRA Notice Requirements May 26, 2004.
All health plans subject to COBRA must comply with these new rules on the first day of the first plan year beginning after November 25, 2004. That means calendar year plans will need to be in compliance on January 1, 2005.
Many of the requirements that were first outlined in the proposed DOL regulations issued on May 28, 2003 survived and are part of the final rules. However, in response to the public comments on the proposed regulations, the DOL has made a number of changes to the rules and to the model notices.
This timely webcast will review the proposed regulations and detail where the final regulations have made changes.
The presentation will also examine the model notices and provide practical suggestions on when and how each needs to be used to be in compliance with the final rules. In addition, we will include an easy-to-follow action plan to get your plans into compliance by the looming deadline.
