Dependent Care--What Expenses Qualify for Reimbursement? New Rules Provide New Answers Training Seminar
The rules governing what expenses qualify for reimbursement under a DCAP (dependent care assistance program) have just changed.
Proposed regulations that were issued May 23 (and that can be used by taxpayers now) address what expenses qualify for the dependent care tax credit (and by reference, for DCAP reimbursement), replacing outdated regulations that were issued 22 years ago. EBIA is here to help! Join us for our web seminar on this new guidance.
In this 90-minute web seminar, our experts will explain what the new guidance says and doesn't say and will provide practical tips for determining what expenses now qualify.
Here are some of the topics we'll cover:- Who's a qualifying individual for purposes of dependent care expense reimbursement? What special rules apply for children of separated or divorced parents?
- When are nursery school expenses reimbursable? What about kindergarten expenses? Specialty day camp expenses? Transportation expenses?
- How do the new "administrative convenience" rules apply to employees who pay for day care while temporarily away from work due to illness or vacation? How do these rules apply to part-time employees?
- Do dependent care application fees, agency fees, and deposits qualify for reimbursement? What about au pair expenses?
- How do the rules apply differently for DCAPs than for the dependent care tax credit, including timing and substantiation requirements for reimbursement requests?
