Seven Things Supervisors Must 'Get' to Lead People Successfully Training Seminar
How many times have you heard experienced executives say, "Change the manager, change the results"? Great managers and supervisors are invaluable for many reasons. They deliver financial results, to be sure. But they also motivate staff, reduce attrition and attract other top performers like themselves. The good news is that great bosses are not all born that way. You can teach them. We asked our speaker, veteran management expert Glenn Shepard, to identify the seven things supervisors MUST understand to excel in the jobs. He believes that managerial achievement has a lot to do with beliefs and attitudes that can be changed and reinforced. Glenn will lay out the seven qualities of great supervisors, explaining why they're so important and what we can all do to sharpen them.
At the end of this conference, supervisors will be able to:
- Prevent the biggest career-killer - and threat to emotional health - for managers: Perfectionism
- Explain the power and status implications of being a supervisor, in particular the behavior changes required to succeed in an oversight role
- Fire employees without feeling guilty about it
- Explain why employees actually prefer supervisors who take firm positions (as opposed to being wishy washy).
- Accept that being a supervisor is not a popularity contest
- Empathize with employees, but at the same time maintain healthy emotional boundaries
