The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) affects most health plans and service providers. Along with the nondiscrimination rules, HIPAA requires plans and administrators to know and comply with preexisting condition exclusion rules, credits for prior health care coverage, issuance of certificates of creditable coverage, and integration with COBRA, Qualified Medical Child Support Orders (QMCSOs), The Mental Health Parity Act, and other applicable laws.
The HIPAA Portability Training & Certification Program covers both the basics and the detailed rules for portability and availability of health care coverage, as well as the integration with other applicable laws. The Program includes the notice requirement rules and administrative tips to help with compliance. Numerous examples help provide valuable insight into the nuances of the rules.
This self-paced Program is available from any browser, and all content is accessible for one full year from date of purchase. It should take approximately eight hours to complete the training portion of the Program and two hours to take the optional Certification test for the "Certified HIPAA Portability Administrator" designation. Certificates are automatically mailed and any Test questions answered incorrectly are viewable online. Program also qualifies for eight hours of PHR and SPHR re-certification credits.
