Wellness Programs After the Final HIPAA Nondiscrimination Regs-What's Allowed, What Isn't, and What Designs Work Best? Training Seminar
The final HIPAA nondiscrimination regulations, including the wellness program regulations, were issued on December 13, 2006. For employers that have a wellness program, or are considering adding one, the final regulations provide some helpful clarifications and some new design opportunities.
In this 90-minute web seminar our experts will help employers and plan service providers understand what the final HIPAA nondiscrimination regulations permit and require, what's being offered in the marketplace, and how to deal with non-HIPAA issues such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Here's some of what we'll cover:- What kind of wellness programs are being offered? Which types of programs are most successful? What changes will the final regulations require? How will the final regulations affect the return on investment of wellness programs?
- Can an employer require employees to participate in a wellness program or complete a health risk assessment?
- What's the maximum value of the reward that a wellness program can offer under the final regulations? Can a wellness program include spouses and dependents, and can the reward take their participation into account?
- Can a wellness program be successful even though alternative ways of qualifying for the reward must be offered to some employees? How can employers ensure that employees aren't gaming the system?
- Are there wellness programs that don't have to comply with the HIPAA nondiscrimination regulations?
- When do health plans have to comply with the new rules?
