How to Discipline 'Difficult' Employees -- Without Getting Sued Training Seminar
Don't let troublesome employees take your company hostage!
Employers often hesitate to discipline underperforming or disorderly employees. "If we upset them," the thinking goes, "they'll turn around and sue us." Don't fall into that trap.
Well-prepared employers CAN discipline difficult employees and, if they don't change their behavior and/or improve performance, you CAN fire them without fear.
In this course, employment law attorney Michael Faillace will reveal the secrets of successful progressive discipline.
You'll learn how warning notices - whether written or verbal - can be used as valuable HR tools that show employees what is expected of them and give them the opportunity to change disruptive behavior and/or improve performance.
Indeed, the bottom line of progressive discipline is that suspensions and firings should never come as a surprise to the employee.
As case law has shown, however, just having a progressive discipline policy won't prevent all lawsuits. You have to do it right.
Through case studies and careful scrutiny of the law, Michael Faillace will show you how to draft a clear and effective policy for progressive discipline, and he'll reveal the most common mistakes companies make when implementing their discipline policies.
By the end of this presentation, you will be able to:- Recognize when an employee deserves to be disciplined
- Explain the value of warning notices and documentation
- Write clear and effective policy statements and written notices
- Sidestep the most common pitfalls of progressive discipline policies
- Improve employee performance without hurting company morale
