New Rules for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)-What Changes Are Allowed and How and When Should We Make Them? Training Seminar

Congress passed new HSA legislation just before adjourning in December. The new law affects HSA eligibility for individuals who are covered by health flexible spending arrangements (health FSAs), changes the limits for allowable HSA contributions, and allows a rollover from an IRA, health reimbursement arrangement (HRA), or health FSA to an HSA under certain conditions.

In this 90-minute web seminar our experts will help employers and plan service providers get a handle on the changes permitted by the new law.

Here's some of what we'll cover:
  • When and how can a health FSA or HRA balance be rolled over to an HSA? What's the new testing period to avoid tax on a rollover?
  • When can a health FSA grace period be ignored in determining HSA eligibility?
  • What are the new contribution limits and when do they apply?
  • Can an individual who switches to a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) during the year make HSA contributions for the full year? What's the new testing period to avoid tax on contributions for the part of the year that the individual wasn't covered by an HDHP?
  • How have the comparability rules been changed for employers that make HSA contributions outside of a cafeteria plan?
  • When do the new rules take effect?
