Health Plan Eligibility Audits: Getting Rid of the Ineligibles Training Seminar
Are you sure that your health plan covers only individuals who are eligible for coverage? Have you verified that family members enrolled by your employees are really eligible, or do you rely on the honor system?
It's well-known that some employees and "dependents" enrolled in employer health plans are not actually eligible-employees who don't work enough hours, college students who are too old or only go to school part-time, married children, ex-spouses, ex-domestic partners, aged parents, grandchildren, etc.
This 90-minute webcast will explain the ins and outs of health plan eligibility audits and how they can help employers reduce health plan costs.
Here's some of what we'll cover:- Do your employees understand who's eligible for health plan coverage? Does your SPD clearly summarize the
plan's eligibility rules and the consequences of enrolling ineligible "dependents"? Has WFTRA affected your plan's eligibility provisions?
- Should you routinely require employees to submit proof showing that the family members they enroll are really eligible?
- What are the red flags to look for when reviewing an employee's enrollment form?
- Random eligibility audits-should you do them? How often? What are the mechanics and legal issues? When and how should you communicate to employees that random eligibility audits will be performed?
- Should you allow an amnesty period for employees who voluntarily disenroll ineligible "dependents"? What should you do about employees who do not voluntarily disenroll ineligible "dependents"? What about COBRA?
- If you undertake an eligibility audit, should you perform it in-house or should you outsource it? What privacy issues should you consider in deciding whether or how to do an eligibility audit?
Bonus: Email us your questions in advance to teleweb@ebia.com by October 17, 2005.
