Description

This course is aimed at experienced IT Professionals who currently administer their on-premise infrastructure. The course introduces the student to Microsoft Azure and then teaches them how to manage their infrastructure in Azure rather than on premise.



Objectives

After completing this course, students will be able to: • Describe Azure architecture components including infrastructure, tools, and portals. • Implement and manage virtual networking within Azure and to connect to on-premises environments. • Plan and create Azure virtual machines. • Configure, manage, and monitor Azure virtual machines to optimize availability and reliability. • Implement, manage, backup and monitor storage solutions. • Plan and implement data services based on SQL Database to support applications. • Deploy and configure websites. • Deploy, configure, monitor, and diagnose cloud services. • Publish content through CDNs and publish videos by using Media Services. • Create and manage Azure AD directories, and configure application integration with Azure AD. • Integrate on-premises Windows AD with Azure AD. • Automate operations in Azure management by using PowerShell runbooks.

Prerequisites

In addition to their professional experience, students who attend this training should already have the following technical knowledge: • Understanding of on-premises virtualization technologies including: virtual machines, virtual networking, and virtual hard disks. • Understanding of network configuration including: TCP/IP, DNS, virtual private networks, firewalls, and encryption technologies. • Understanding of websites including: create, configure, monitor and deploy a website on Internet Information Services (IIS). • Understanding of Active Directory concepts including: Domains, Forests, Domain Controllers, replication, Kerberos, and LDAP. • Understanding of database concepts including: Tables, queries, Structured Query Language (SQL), and database schemas • Understanding of resilience and disaster recovery including: backup and restore operations.

Outline

Module 1: Introduction to Azure This module introduces cloud solutions in general and then focuses on the services that Azure offers. The module goes on to describe the portals that you can use to manage Azure subscriptions and services before introducing the Azure PowerShell modules and Azure Command Line Interface (CLI) as scripting technologies for managing Azure. Finally, the module provides explanations and guidance for the use of Azure Resource Manager. Module 2: Implementing and managing Azure networking This module explains how virtual networking provides the glue that brings together VMs, web apps, and storage to enable you to publish a service onto the Internet. Students will learn how to use Microsoft Visual Studio, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) clients, and Azure PowerShell to deploy web and mobile apps to Azure. Additionally, they will learn how to configure web apps and use the Azure WebJobs feature to schedule tasks, monitor the performance of web apps, and create and configure mobile apps. Lastly, they will learn how to use Azure Traffic Manager to distribute requests between two or more app services. This module also explains how to implement and manage Azure Storage, and students will learn how to improve web-application performance by implementing Azure Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). Lastly, they will learn how to protect on-premises systems and Azure VMs by using Azure Backup, and they will be able to describe Azure Site Recovery capabilities. Students will learn how to extend an on-premises Active Directory domain to Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environments and synchronize user, group, and computer accounts between on-premises AD DS and Azure AD. This module also explains how to set up SSO by using federation between on-premises Active Directory and Azure AD. Cancellations:

Standard and Professional Desktop Application & Professional Development classes may be cancelled or rescheduled by the client at least four (4) business days in advance without penalty. A full credit (no refunds) will be applied to future training on all cancelled classes that meet the above-stated criteria. A cancellation fee equal to the course fee will be incurred if a student provides less than 4 days’ notice for any Standard or Professional Desktop Applications, or Professional Development Skills class cancellations. Technical courses or Private classes may be cancelled or rescheduled (no refunds) greater than two weeks in advance without charge. The client is responsible for 50% of the class fee if a technical or private class is canceled or rescheduled within two weeks of the class date, and full price if the course is canceled or rescheduled within one week of the class date.
