Course Description
This five day course will cover new features and functionality in Windows Server 2012 around Management, Networking Infrastructure, Storage, Access Control, Hyper-V, High Availability, and Identity Federation. Specific technologies covered will include Dynamic Access Control(DAC), High Availability, Failover Clustering, Microsoft Online Backup and changes with Active Directory, Hyper-V and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS). It is not a Product Upgrade course, detailing the considerations for migrating and upgrading your specific environment to Windows Server 2012. Rather, it will update your skills to Windows Server 2012.
This course is intended for Information Technology (IT) Professionals who are already experienced Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Administrators, carrying out day to day implementation, management and administrative tasks, who want to update their skills and knowledge to Windows Server 2012.
This course will also be of interest to students who hold the MCSA: Windows Server 2008 credential, who aspire to update it to the MCSA: Windows Server 2012 credential by taking the upgrade Exam 70-417: Upgrading Your Skills to MCSA Windows Server 2012.
Before attending this course, students must have:
- Experience with implementing, managing and administering a Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 environment
- Experience with implementing and managing Windows networking technologies
- Experience with implementing and managing Active Directory technologies
- An understanding of basic virtualization and storage technologies
- Knowledge equivalent to the MCSA: Windows Server 2008 credential

4. Managing Storage for Windows Server 2012
This modules covers new storage features in Windows Server 2012 such as Data Duplication, Thin Provisioning and Trim Storage, File Server Resource Manager and Resilient File System (ReFS). It will also cover iSCSI and Storage Spaces as well as Implementing BranchCache.

6. Implementing DirectAccess

7. Implementing Failover Clustering
This module covers new features and functionality in Failover Clustering in Windows Server 2012. It will cover how to implement Failover Clustering and how to configure specific Server Roles in a cluster, such as Print. It will also cover new maintenance features such as Cluster Aware Updating (CAU) and how to implement multi-site failover cluster.

This module covers how to make virtual machines highly available and how to implement virtual machines in a failover cluster deployed on the host. This module covers Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) and how it can be used to address various organizational and business identity federation services and scenarios. It will cover configuration of prerequisites and the deployment of the AD FS services. It also covers Implementing AD FS to enable Internal Single Sign On (SSO) in an organization and Implementing AD FS to enable SSO between federated partners.
