Family Medical Leave Act Courses and Workshops

Congress passed the Family and Medical Leave Act allowing workers to take as much as 12 weeks off to address these issues without fear of losing their jobs.  The FMLA became effective August 5, 1993, for employers and employees. The FMLA allows employees to balance their work and family life by taking unpaid leave for certain family and medical reasons. Covered employers must grant an eligible employee up to a total of 12 work weeks of unpaid leave during any 12-month period for reasons specified by law.  Periodically, the Department of Labor issues updates and new regulations that employers must comply with or face stiff penalties. It is every organization's responsibility to stay abreast of all pertinent information regarding their employees and the FMLA.
