CompTIA's Cloud Essentials Certification provides important documentation that represents a person's ability to understand cloud computing and successfully adopt, manage and change cloud-based IT services.

This certification is awarded following a 50 question, 60 minute exam that covers business cloud services, the value of cloud computing, technical perspectives of cloud types, the steps to successful cloud adoption, how the cloud affects IT service management and the risks and consequences of cloud deployment. The exam was developed by a group of vendor-neutral experts in cloud computing from companies like IBM, Cisco, EMC, HP and ING.

CompTIA recommends that students taking the Cloud Essentials Certification exam have six or more months of experience in IT, as well as some background in IT-related decision making.
