Narrative Filmmaking is the essence of video storytelling. In this Focus Area, the student learns to bring together the disciplines of digital video: camera, lighting, sync sound, camera moves, script tone, points of view and emotional interpretation. In-depth classroom lectures teach cinematic conventions for shooting coverage, and students learn how to work with actors. During the hands-on workshop periods, students will film narrative scenes and explore real world Cinematic Language, Sync-Sound, and manage a full production crew. Students rotate through positions during the day: sound, camera, lighting and sitting in the director's chair, which teaches crew tasks and crew workflow.
