Android Development

The Android mobile operating system is used by some of the most popular smartphones and tablets. Anyone interested in creating applications for these devices will need to understand the ins and outs of the Android OS, as well as the programing languages that it uses.

Android applications use the Java language and run on a multi-kernel Linux system with each process in its own virtual machine. The devices themselves feature a variety of hardware that the apps can access, including a GPS and digital compass, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G connectivity, GSM telephony and more. The Android OS also includes C and C++ libraries and uses SQLite for structured data storage and management.
